Corporals Course
Distance Education Program
The Corporals Course DEP is based upon the program of instruction developed for the
command-sponsored course. It leverages computer-based training technology to provide interactive, multimedia support to corporals and has
been designed to provide additional knowledge and skills to be successful small-unit leaders.
ALMAR 026/10 identified a requirement to offer both a command-sponsored corporals course and a
distance education course to fill a gap in the education continuum for Marine corporals and ensure that all corporals have access to a professional
education opportunity as they mantle additional responsibilities as a non-commisioned officer of Marines.
CDET, in coordination with the Enlisted Professional Military Education branch of the Marine Corps University, has developed the MarineNet
interactive multimedia instruction Corporals Course DEP to fulfill the distance education requirement.
This DEP is divided into seven sub-courses available as a
MarineNet Curriculum (EPME4000AA):
- Operations (EMPE4210AA)

The Operations Course contains two lessons: Warfighting and Operational Culture. In this course, you will learn about the complexities
of war and operational culture.
- Offensive Operations (EMPE4220AA)

The Offensive Operations Course contains five lessons: The Marine Rifle Squad, Conducting Combat Patrols, Immediate Actions of a Patrol,
Improvised Explosive Devices, and Submitting Patrol Reports.
- Combat Orders (EPME4230AA)

The Combat Orders Course contains four lessons: Introduction to Combat Orders, Troop Leading Steps, Order Types and Characteristics, and
Issuing a Combat Order. This course also contains the Squad Leader's Order Practical Exercise.
- Defensive Operations (EMPE4240AA)

The Defensive Operations Course contains three lessons: Fundamentals of Cover, Camouflage, and Concealment; Creating a Range Card; and
Creating a Fire Plan Sketch.
- Land Navigation (EPME43100AA)

The Land Navigation Course contains two lessons: Reading a Map and Reading a Lensatic Compass. In this course, you will learn how to use a
map, a compass, and a protractor, to navigate around obstacles and through unfamiliar terrain.
- Marine NCO (EMPE4410AA)

The Marine NCO Course has three lessons: History of the Marine
NCO, Developing the NCO, and Developing Leadership
Fundamentals.
- Leadership Tools and Techniques (EPME4420AA)

This course will help you gain a better understanding of the proficiency and conduct system, as well as the Marine Corps enlisted promotion
system. This knowledge will help you to be a resource to your Marines and lead them effectively.
