Leading Marines
Distance Education Program
The Leading Marines Distance Education Program (DEP) serves as the foundation of
the Professional Military Education (PME) building block program and supports the development of the
requisite leadership skills for our future leaders.
This curriculum is divided into four courses available as a MarineNet Curriculum:
- Developing Leaders (EPME 3010AA)
This course provides the student with an understanding of organizational values versus individual values and how to
practically employ Marine Corps core values, leadership traits and principles, ethical leadership and the importance
of operational culture.
- Leadership Tools (EPME 3020AA)
This course will familiarize the student with the team building stages, introduces the Marine Corps’ warfighting
philosophy, and explains how to apply the troop-leading steps such as BAMCIS, SMEAC and Operational Risk
Management.
- Counselling, Coaching, and Mentoring (EPME 3030AA)
This course will help prepare the student for the responsibilities of being a non-commissioned officer with an
understanding of the fundamentals of counseling, coaching, and mentoring.
- Command and Military Organization (EPME 3040AA)
This course will provide an understanding of the definition of command, the Marine Corps organizational structure,
and a familiarization of the Department of Defense, the military services, the unified commands, the Department of
Homeland Security, and the United States Coast Guard.
